GRIDS by Andre Jute Published by Rotovision SA . *README.MAC for users of Apple's Macintosh *README.TXT for users of MSDOS or Windows systems IN THIS README: *USING THE BUNDLED DISK *FILE FORMAT OF THE GRIDS ON THE DISK *DESIGNING WITH THE GRIDS ON THE DISK *DESCRIPTION OF THE GRIDS ON THE DISK *CUSTOMISING THE GRIDS ON THE DISK USING THE BUNDLED DISK The disk is formatted for the lowest common denominator of DOS. Mac owners should have one of the many DOS disk-opening utilities installed to use the disk; PC Exchange comes free with Apple's System. FILE FORMAT OF THE GRIDS ON THE DISK The files all contain Encapsulated Postscript (EPS or EPSF) graphics and are saved for Macs with the word 'MAC' in the title and for DOS and Windows machines with the word 'IBM' in the title. All files have the suffix EPS. DESIGNING WITH THE GRIDS ON THE DISK Use them by dragging the chosen grid into a page layout program like Adobe Pagemaker or QuarkXPress. Detailed instructions are given in the book for copying the formatting on the grids, drawing quick frames over them, adding guides, and scaling them to whatever format suits the job at hand. Scale it to the appropriate size, then add guides or alter to suit specific jobs. CUSTOMISING THE GRIDS ON THE DISK The grids were created in Adobe Illustrator and can be opened and altered in Illustrator or any other vector drawing program and modified to suit your own needs. They are saved in one-bit format (black & white) to enable more grids to be fitted on the floppy, so users may in the first instance wish to color them 50% blue or green or some other personal preference.
